"Celebrate Literacy," Benefits Florida Family Literacy Initiative  Volunteer Florida Foundation, through its Florida Family Literacy Initiative, is pleased to welcome internationally known Pop Artist Romero Britto as a literacy champion for Florida. Britto created a signature oil on canvas piece titled, "Celebrate Literacy," especially for the Florida Family Literacy Initiative. The painting was unveiled February 16, 2007 at the Celebration of Reading event hosted by Gov. Jeb Bush, along with Mrs. Columba Bush, President George H.W. Bush and Mrs. Barbara Bush. Authors Dorothy "Doro" Bush Koch, Haven Kimmel, Eric Carle, Art Smith (Oprah's Chef), Mary Higgins Clark, Carol Higgins Clark, and Brad Meltzer.The original oil painting, "Celebrate Literacy," is signed by Britto, Gov. Jeb Bush, Columba Bush, President George H.W. Bush, Mrs. Barbara Bush and Doro Bush Koch. The original, signed painting will be offered for purchase by private invitation. In support of literacy, Romero Britto has authorized limited edition prints to the initiative's manager, nonprofit Volunteer Florida Foundation, as well as other fine art collectibles, to raise funds to support family literacy programs across Florida.
